In our current era of computer use you'll often hear a reference to "the cloud." Although the expression itself sounds quite vague and insecure ("..so my data is just out there?"), cloud technology – and specifically, iCloud – is actually a powerful tool to both secure your data and to make it easily accessible on any of your devices. In this class we will go over:

  • what it means when something is "in the cloud."

  • how data is stored when using the cloud (i.e. when you can expect something to be locally-available or not).

  • the difference between local storage and cloud storage.

  • how iCloud keeps our data safe.

  • how to see what specific content is being synced through iCloud.

  • what the Apple ID is and how to view it.

  • how to access your subscriptions and other important information through your Apple ID.

In order to get the most out of this class it is recommended that you have:

  • an Apple computer running macOS Catalina or Big Sur

  • an iPhone or iPad running iOS 14 or later
